Job summary

The Boyce Research Group at the University of California Berkeley School of Public Health seeks a Qualitative Research Manager to lead qualitative components of several projects focused on LGBTQ+, racial/ethnic minoritized, and other marginalized youth. Work in partnership with health departments and advocacy groups to address violence prevention, healthy relationships, and access to support services.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of public health research and health equity frameworks.
• Experience implementing qualitative methodologies and interviews.
• Ability to develop publishable manuscripts from results.
• Ability to respectfully engage youth/community voices.
• Experience with LGBTQ+/racially minoritized youth research.

Responsibilities

• Independently manages at least one research-practice partnership, leading meetings weekly with the partner, ensuring a positive collaborative relationship, and timely submission of deliverables.
• Track and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Analyzes data and interprets results using rigorous methods.
• Presents results to the research team and to practitioner/scientific audiences.
• Conducts data collection using trauma-informed approaches with marginalized youth and service providers.
• Designs survey instruments and sampling procedures; manages incentives and budget.
• Drafts manuscripts for publication and leads funder-facing materials.
• Leads Youth Research Advisory Board activities and youth engagement.
• Performs literature reviews to identify gaps and inform methods and grants.
• Develops proposals to guide strategic direction and collaborates on study design.
