Your expertise will help shape a positive classroom environment in which children can grow physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually. Responsibilities
  • Help the Lead Teacher implement comprehensive curriculum plans tailored to the developmental needs of young children, including literacy, math, physical education, and social skills.
  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and active participation.
  • Supervise and interact with the children in all areas of the program, outdoors and during field trips.
  • Utilize effective behavior management and classroom management techniques to promote positive behavior and engagement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about children’s progress, milestones, and any concerns.
  • Be an example of professional behavior and model a professional attitude toward the program, the children and colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records of child development assessments, standardized testing results, and incident reports in compliance with mandated reporting laws.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the program's policies, health and safety regulations and emergency procedures. Be ready to implement if necessary.
  • Attend staff meetings and stay current on all required certifications
  • Preform housekeeping and other tasks as needed to support the program

Pathways to Qualification
  • High School Diploma or equivalency certificate + 24 additional quarter credits and 4L60 hours as an assistant teacher
  • Montessori Diploma or Preprimary Credential, Primary Diploma, or Certificate +12 additional quarter credits and 2080 hours as an assistant teacher, aide, or intern
  • Preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certificate from the American Montessori Society; or diploma from the Association Montessori lnternational with a baccalaureate degree + 1040 hours as an assistant teacher, aide, or intern
  • MN technical Certificate as a Child Development Assistant + 6 additional quarter credits and 2080 hours as an assistant teacher
  • Child Development Associate credential, center based or for family child care, or infants and toddlers + 1560 hours as an assistant teacher, aide, or intern
  • License from the MN Department of Education for Prekindergarten Associate, or credential for a two year program from an accredited community or technical college in Child Development or Early Childhood Education + 6 additional quarter credits and L040 hours as an assistant teacher, aide or intern
  • Baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited college or university + 1g additional quarter credits and 1040 hours as an assistant teacher, aide, or intern
  • License from the MN Department Education for elementary education without kindergarten endorsement + 6 additional quarter credits within one year of initial employment if teaching children under school age and 520 hours as an assistant teacher, aide, or intern if teaching children under school age
  • License from the MN Department of Education for prekindergarten/nursery, or elementary education with a kindergarten endorsement
