LARC in Illinois is seeking a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) to collaborate with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop and coordinate strategies that enhance quality of life.

The QIDP guides individuals and supports teams to promote community integration, using strengths, interests and abilities to help the person direct their activities, build relationships, and pursue meaningful lives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human service field (must be approved by the Department of Human Services)
  • At least one year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks
  • A valid driver’s license and insured vehicle
  • Ability to pass and maintain required trainings

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate strategies and services to increase the individual’s overall quality of life.
  • Guide the individual and support team to achieve greater integration in their community by maximizing strengths, interests and abilities.
  • Help the person direct their own activities that create a meaningful life including contributing to the community and developing relationships.
  • Guidance may occur in a variety of settings and formats with focus on personal care and daily living activities.
  • Provide job coaching, teach/develop skills, advocate with the individual, assist in communication and self-expression, and support the individual in meeting their goals.

Summary: Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals (QIDPs) collaborate with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to develop and coordinate strategies and services to increase the individuals overall quality of life. QIDPs guide the individual and support team to achieve greater integration in their community by maximizing the person’s strengths, interests and abilities. The aim is for the person to direct their own activities that create a meaningful life including contributing to the community and developing relationships. Guidance may occur in a variety of settings and formats and may include a focus on personal care, daily living activities, job coaching, teaching/developing skills, advocating with the individual, assisting in communication and self-expression, and ultimately supporting the individual in meeting his or her own goals.

Qualifications:
