Founded in 1977 by families and community members in West Central Iowa, New Hope was created to expand opportunities for people with disabilities to live, work, and participate fully in their communities. The organization offers services in a supportive, home-like environment that emphasizes dignity, respect, and personal growth. Individuals served include adults whose independent living, employment, social, or functional development is affected by intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or brain injury. Each person receives individualized programming designed to help them live with purpose, develop skills, and experience self-fulfillment.

Role Description

The Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) is a full-time, on-site role located in Carroll, IA, responsible for coordinating and overseeing individualized services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and brain injury. This role includes developing, implementing, and monitoring person-centered service plans, ensuring regulatory and agency compliance, and advocating for the rights and preferences of individuals served. Day-to-day tasks involve conducting assessments, documenting progress, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, and participating in team meetings and care conferences. The QIDP provides guidance and support to direct care staff, promotes best practices in disability services, and maintains effective communication with individuals, families, guardians, and external stakeholders. The role also involves problem-solving service issues, supporting community integration, and contributing to a positive, respectful environment.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience related to Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities, including person-centered planning and service coordination.
  • Supervisory Skills to provide leadership, coaching, and support to direct care staff and to oversee implementation of individual plans.
  • Background in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, with experience supporting individuals with disabilities in residential or community-based settings.
  • Strong Communication skills, including clear documentation, professional interpersonal communication, and effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and families.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that meets QIDP regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of state and federal regulations related to disability services and willingness to uphold agency policies and standards of care.
  • Ability to work on-site in Carroll, IA, manage multiple priorities, and maintain professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Basic computer skills for electronic documentation and communication; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for local travel, as needed.
