Weeks Marine, Inc. is seeking an Intermediate Watch Engineer Assistant to help operate, maintain, and repair vessel engineering and dredging equipment.

You will routinely monitor equipment, log conditions, and assist the Watch Engineer on all critical functions aboard the vessel in Port Fourchon. This role requires willingness to live aboard during rotations, ability to work a demanding schedule, and familiarity with engine spaces.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to work a rotational schedule and live aboard during full rotations.
  • MMC w/ QMED (Olier) w/ AS-Engine endorsements.
  • USCG Medical Certification (STCW) is required.
  • TWIC card and a valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely makes rounds while logging the condition of the equipment.
  • Report any unusual machinery operations to the engineer.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of engine spaces and equipment.
  • Ensure oil pressure and temperature levels are kept at their proper state.
  • Participate in all repairs and maintenance projects during idle periods.
  • Perform duties as directed by the Watch Engineer such as greasing machinery and taking soundings for storage tanks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities And Duties

  • Report any unusual machinery operations to the engineer.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with craft workers under his/her supervision and management/supervision.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

  • Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels.
  • Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Performs other duties as required.
