Job summary

Traditions-Management is seeking a QMA to administer medications to residents in accordance with state regulations and community policies. The role emphasizes monitoring, communication, and supporting residents to maintain independence and quality of life.

The QMA will prepare and administer medications, verify orders, document properly, and respond to resident needs. HIPAA compliance and collaboration with licensed staff are essential in daily duties.

Qualifications

• Overtime ability required to support resident care needs.
• Successful completion of a state approved medication administration program.
• Must complete annual medication evaluation with a Registered Pharmacy Consultant.
• Current QMA certificate for the state.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and administers prescribed oral, eye, nasal, and ear medications; topical meds as ordered.
• Administers PRN drugs when authorized by a licensed nurse.
• Consults drug references when unsure about a medication.
• Checks physician orders against medication forms and maintains proper documentation.
• Maintains clean storage and secure medication cart when unattended.
• Care for patient tubing and bags as instructed and report needs to charge nurse.
• Administers vital signs and documents findings; keep records current with co-signature by nurse.
• Responds to call lights and alarms promptly and courteously.
• Orders medications from pharmacy per physician orders while adhering to HIPAA.
