Job summary

Englewood Health and Rehabilitation seeks a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to administer medications and provide resident care in a Indiana facility. The role includes insulin-related responsibilities and adherence to state practice guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must be certified by the Indiana State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
• Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification by the Indiana State Department of Health.
• Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of Indiana.
• A high school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Administer and document oral, eye, topical, suppository, ear drops, and insulin injections as ordered.
• Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders.
• Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy.
• Assist residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, and dressing needs.
• Feeding residents, providing bedside water, providing snacks, and transferring residents to and from dining areas per nutritional plan of care.
• Checking catheters and providing catheter care as assigned by nurse.
• Assist residents including bedfast and comatose residents in turning, positioning, exercising, transferring and ambulation as needed per facility protocol.
• Answering resident call lights and responding to requests for assistance per policy.
• Maintaining resident rooms by making beds, cleaning bedside tables and organizing belongings.
• Educating residents on medications and possible side effects
• Maintaining confidentiality of all residents and privacy at all times
• Reporting incidents and submitting documentation per facility policy

Education

Indiana QMA certification

State-approved training in medication administration
