Job summary

TRCC is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician for the Polyurethane QC lab to perform tests on chemicals, raw materials, and finished foam or coating batches to ensure safety and performance standards. The role is on-site in Dalton, GA, with a Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:00 pm schedule and a pay range of $22–$24 per hour based on experience.

Responsibilities include acid–base titrations, moisture tests, pH, conductivity, density, viscosity, FTIR, XRF, GC/HPLC analyses, data logging, CoA

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associates degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience with PPE and lab safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical tests and report results accurately.
• Operate and maintain lab instruments and test equipment.
• Stock prep areas and prepare CoAs daily.
• Follow safety protocols and keep the lab clean and organized.

Position

We are currently hiring for a Quality Control Lab Technician in our Polyurethane QC lab to perform lab tests on chemical formulas raw materials and finished foam or coating batches to ensure they meet strict safety and performance standards

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Candidate must pass a fitness for duty test drug screen and submit to a TB test on a post offer employment physicalPerform chemical tests that are simply chemistry in nature that include acid base titrations both manual and automated versions solid and moisture determinations color comparison testing pH determination conductivity water in sample content measures density and viscosity measuresPerform other special chemical and physical tests common to water treatment products and lubricant additives manufacturingPerform instrumental testing such as FTIR XRF GC & HPLC chromatography and gel permeation chromatography GPCElectronically log in and label samplesCommunication with production staff and notify of test resultsRead temperature charts and graphsBuild and maintain a basic understanding of TRCC products and chemistriesExecute laboratory tests with accuracy and precisionUse instruments and other lab test equipment to determine sampletest resultsUse all PPE personal protective equipment while in laboratories abide by all safety rules and procedures and work safely at all timesRead understand and apply handling cautions as stated in the labs material Safety Data Sheets SDSWork with production personnel to test samples producing accurate results and reporting in a timely mannerPerform test methods precisely as written and demonstrate great accuracy and precisionStock sample preparation areas as well as test station cabinets drawers and shelves with labware and needed supplies or testingAfter testing samples clean test station and lab equipment where needed restoring everything to its initial state of cleanliness and readinessReport any equipment sample andor test issues or difficulties to chemist when running testsMonitor supply of lab expendables used for lab test work and notify lab chemist or chemists designee when items are in short supplyPerform record keeping on batch tickets final reports QF forms and do other clerical functions as requiredPrepare CoAs dailyOrganize manage and disposition the QC lab sample retain areas in the QC labsFollow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment PPE at all timesJob is performed on site No remote work offered for this positionPerforms other related duties as necessary or assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience with SAP preferredMust be able to be exposed to and smell chemicals used in the testing environmentMust be able to stand and work at a lab bench for long periods of timeStrong experience and knowledge in dealing with chemicals and their hazardsPossess good reading and comprehension skills

Education and Experience

High School Diploma requiredAssociates Degree in a related field preferred

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting could be required while using a computer or standing while working at the lab benchAbility to work outside or in a plant environment in uncontrolled temperatures from time to time gathering samplesMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds at timesMust be able to pass a respirator certification and wear a respirator as necessary

Work Schedule

Monday Friday 800 am to 400 pmOvertime is mandatory from time to time based on business need

2200 to 2400 per hour based on experience and education level
