Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. seeks a QC Technician to perform field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials on project sites in the Atlanta area.

You will execute tests on moderately complex projects with limited supervision, communicate with contractors and project managers, and prepare detailed daily reports. Willingness to travel 100% is required and growth through company training is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; associate or bachelor’s in a related field is a plus.
• ACI Level 1 Field Technician Certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently.
• Willingness to travel 100%.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials.
• Execute testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision.
• Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Prepare accurate daily field reports documenting site conditions and results.
• Assist in resolving field-related issues and support project execution.
• Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested.

A Typical Day Looks Like

• Performs field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials
• Executes testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
• Reports on changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors
• Prepares accurate and detailed daily field reports documenting site conditions and results
• Perform calculations, data reduction, and documentation tasks
• Maintains and organizes field equipment and testing materials
• Assist in resolving field-related issues and supports project execution
• Participate in project meetings with senior staff as requested
• Performs other field and project support duties as assigned

Do you have what it takes?

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required and associate or bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus
• ACI Level 1 Field Technician Certified or willing to obtain certification
• Must have strong organizational skills to handle the variety of tasks assigned
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with internal teams
• Demonstrated ability to manage work on their own
• Willing to 100% travel
