Job summary

Responsibilities

• Test all samples brought into the lab per testing instructions (particle size analysis, FTIR, Karl Fisher, Brookfield viscosity, ash determinations, analytical scales, spectrophotometric colors, microscope analysis).
• Communicate results to Production and provide correction instructions as needed.
• Print product labels using ChemGes and confirm batch tickets and packing lists in SAP.
• Enter QC data and make usage decisions in SAP.
• Assist the Samples Department as directed by the Sample Coordinator.
• Maintain lab equipment and space with upkeep, maintenance, and calibration.
• Follow safety policies and ISO 9001/14001 requirements.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Testing and communicating the status of intermediate and finished goods from Production. Communicating the status of incoming raw materials with the Warehouse and Purchasing teams. Working with Planners to ensure materials are processed in the SAP system in an accurate and timely manner. Assisting with the Sample Department to prepare samples as time allows.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The QC Technician, 3rd shift, works in the Clover, SC Manufacturing Plant and reports to the Senior Quality Manager. This role enables the Production team to continue to operate during the 3rd shift by testing all samples that are brought into the lab (raw material, intermediate, or finished good samples), entering all QC data into the Münzing SAP system, creating product labels, processing the batch in the Münzing SAP system, and filing all paperwork in the appropriate locations. This position also assists the Sampling Department to prepare customer samples for shipment at the direction of the Sample Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Test all samples brought into the lab in accordance with testing instructions. Testing includes: particle size analysis, FTIR, Karl Fisher, Brookfield viscosity, ash determinations, analytical scales, spectrophotometric colors, and software assisted microscope analysis.
• Communicate to Production the results of sample testing and provide correction instructions as needed.
• Print product labels using ChemGes.
• Confirm batch tickets and packing lists using SAP.
• Enter QC data and make usage decisions in SAP.
• Assist with the Samples Department at the direction of the Sample Coordinator.
• Maintain lab equipment and laboratory space with upkeep, preventative maintenance, and calibration.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, and actively promote and encourage safe work practices.
• Adherence to Münzing's ISO 9001 and 14001 Quality Management System.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree in Chemistry or relevant field (Bachelor's preferred; experience can substitute the degree)
• 0 - 2 years of relevant experience working a related field
• Basic chemistry, math, and computer skills required.
• Strong data observation and interpretation skills
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy, with ability to compare data, detect inconsistencies, and determine actions for resolution
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively and positively interact with supervisor, peers, and across functions
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple work deadlines
• Must be able to adapt to fast changing environments and prioritize effectively
• SAP experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to work an eight (8) hour shift in a lab environment. Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time at a bench performing tasks. Must be able to lift objects that are less than or equal to 30 lbs. Will be required to use computer daily to effectively complete job functions for entire shift.
