Job summary

GFMCO, LLC in Georgia is seeking a Lab Technician to support QC lab operations. You will perform chemical analyses, microstructure work, sand testing, and maintain lab records.

The role covers second shift (2pm–12am) and requires handling of test equipment, data entry, and PPAP data preparation. You will collaborate with QC to ensure accurate testing and documentation across coremaking, molding, pouring, and finishing processes.

Responsibilities

• Chemical (Spectro) Analyses: furnace, ladle, casting, and incoming scrap metal.
• Microstructure: Nodularity of poured samples and microstructure etching.
• Sand Testing: support for core making and molding processes;
• Routine maintenance and cleaning of test equipment and lab facilities.
• Test Bars: collection, Hardness testing, and prepare for pick-up.
• Defect Analyses: obtain material, sectioning, microstructural preparation, and review.
• Customer Data for PPAP: Chemical analyses, Hardness testing, microstructural preparation, NDT, Hydrostatic testing, and review.
• File and maintain production records for coremaking, molding, pouring and cleaning departments.
• Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned

Summary Description:

Supports the operation of the lab and performs tests and analyses as requested. Maintain documentation on all tests and evaluations.
