Job summary

Beran Concrete, Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Technician to perform quality testing of ready-mix products at plan locations and customer job sites. The role involves field testing and laboratory work, documenting results, and maintaining the lab area and equipment.

You will test trial batches, ensure adherence to specifications, and support the QC/QA Manager. Travel between plants is required, and a valid driver's license is needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid state driver's license with clean driving record.
• Ability to travel between plants.
• Ability to understand and use concrete mix designs.
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I certification within 9 months.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control testing on ready-mix products including field and lab tests (slump, air content, unit weight, yield, cylinders).
• Mix and test trial batches in advance of jobs per specifications.
• Maintain accurate documentation of testing results.
• Maintain lab area and equipment per industry standards.
• Follow all company safety and environmental regulations.
• Back up for Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager and perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will perform quality testing of our ready-mix products at our plan locations and customer job sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct quality control testing on aggregate and concrete products including, but not limited to, field testing (slump, air content, unit weight, yield, cylinders, etc.), gradations on production aggregates, and lab work (compression testing and scheduling)
• Mix and test trial batches in advance of jobs within provided specifications
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of testing completed with results
• Maintain lab area and equipment according to industry standard
• Always follow all company safety regulations and policies
• Always follow all company environmental regulations and policies
• Always represent company with professionalism and customer service in mind
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Perform any special projects as required
• Back up for Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current, valid state driver's license with suitable driving record
• Must be able to travel between plants
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Ability to understand, interpret, and use construction specifications and concrete mix designs
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to obtain ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I Certification within 9 months of start date
• Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical functions including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, percentage computations and basic area and volume computations using fractions, decimal equivalents or whole numbers, and basic area, volume, unit weight, and total weight computations
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to accept and follow direction as provided by managers, and ask questions when needed
