Job summary

BASF Nutrition and Health in Bishop, TX is hiring a QC Laboratory Technician to perform timely analysis of raw materials, in-process streams and finished products in a cGMP environment. The role uses GC, HPLC, ICP-OES and laser diffraction to generate data and ensure conformity to specifications on a 10-hour rotating shift.

You will report to the QC Supervisor, collaborate with the Quality Control team, and maintain equipment while following FDA and ISO requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree with minimum 6 months lab experience acceptable.
• HS diploma with at least 2 years’ chemical lab experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze raw materials, in-process streams and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.
• Perform analyses per written procedures and regulatory requirements (FDA/ISO).
• Maintain analytical equipment and perform basic maintenance.
• Document results and communicate findings to team for decision making.
• Prepare solutions, standards, calibrations, and perform housekeeping in the lab.
• Assist with laboratory documentation updates.

As a valued member of Bishop Quality team, you will be reporting to the QC Supervisor, and will be responsible for timely analysis of raw materials, in-process streams and finished products to verify conformity to specifications. You will utilize analytical techniques such as gas and liquid chromatography (GC, HPLC), inductively-couple plasma optical emission (ICP-OES) and particle size analysis by laser diffraction to generate and document data in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements.

This position is part of a job family with multiple levels and will be filled at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

During your 10-hour rotating shift as a QC Laboratory Technician, you will…

• Working as part of the Quality Control team to meet department goals and deliverables, you will provide timely and accurate sample measurements for quality testing with a strong safety mindset.
• Exemplifying positive work habits (time management, prioritization and stewardship) you will conduct analyses per written procedures, as well as FDA and ISO requirements.
• Maintaining analytical equipment in proper working order; assemble and disassemble test equipment as needed for troubleshooting and basic maintenance.
• Communicating analytical results and concerns, as necessary, to enable good decision making.
• Performing tasks that enable the success of the entire laboratory team such as solution and standard preparation, calibrations, and general housekeeping in the laboratory.
• Assisting with laboratory documentation updates, as required.

If you…

• Hold a bachelor's degree in a science-related field (preferred); OR an associate’s degree with a minimum of 6 months lab experience; OR a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of chemical laboratory experience.
• Bring experience with laboratory equipment and testing; as well as knowledge of standard chemical laboratory practices and analytical techniques
• Keep attention to detail
• Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work shift schedules, including holidays, weekends and overtime, as required.
• Possess troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; and are a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Preferrably have previous lab experience in an FDA or ISO regulated environment and good understanding of ISO, cGMP and FDA guidelines.
