Qualifications

• AS or BS in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field.
• 1+ year in a laboratory environment (food/bev/pharma or consumer products preferred).
• Strong math, reading comprehension, and computer skills (Excel, Word, Windows, DB systems).
• Excellent communication and writing skills; detail-oriented and able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab preparation and analytical tests on finished goods, raw materials, and packaging.
• Monitor production line start-up and continual quality during runs.
• Maintain laboratory records and documentation; assist with inventory management.
• Conduct microbiological and ATP testing; ensure GMP/GLP/SSOP compliance.

Quality Control Lab Technician Title: QC Lab Technician

Location: Clearwater, FL

Industry: Pharmaceutical

Salary: Up to $23/hr.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3pm

Employment Type: Contract with possibility to go permanent (depending on business needs and performance)

About the Opportunity

As the Quality Control Lab Technician, you will be responsible for performing lab preparation activities and analyses to maintain the quality and safety of food products, effectively communicating with co-workers, performing a variety of analytical tests on finished goods, raw materials, and packaging, working in both a team environment and independently as needed, and actively working to encourage a culture of quality and safety amongst co-workers.

What You ll Do

• Receiving and tests incoming raw materials to include flavors, bulk sugar, and packaging
• Performs analytical and organoleptic tests of finished products
• Conducts start-up checks of the production line and continues monitoring quality throughout production run
• Test finished products for quality and able to provide information to adjust batches if necessary
• Help maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Notify purchasing when supplies are needed
• Keep laboratory equipment operating by performing daily calibrations.
• Responsible for laboratory record keeping and documentation
• Performs microbiological testing of finished goods and raw materials
• Conduct ATP testing of environment and food contact equipment.
• Understands and follows all applicable GMP s, GLP s, and SSOP s
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment
• Communicates effectively with all departments to support quality and food safety at all times
• Responsible for ensuring food safety and notifying production and quality management of food safety risks
• Other duties as assigned

Other Qualifications & Considerations

• A.S. or B.S. Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or Related Field
• 1+ years in a laboratory environment (food/beverage, pharmaceutical, consumer products or relevant industry preferred)
• Good mathematical skills, reading comprehension and proficiency in required computer systems (Excel, Word, Windows, Data Base Systems)
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Attention to detail and the ability to discern variation in color, taste and aroma
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond positively to changes in daily duties and workload
• Ability to stand, reach, walk, and stoop, as well as push, pull, lift and carry up to 10 pounds
