Job summary

CalPortland in Oxnard, CA is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to lead the laboratory team and oversee wet chemical and instrumental analysis, ensuring accurate daily QC data and compliance with safety standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering or related field, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage equipment maintenance, payroll, and stockpile inventory while delivering formal reports to the Chief Chemist.

• Ability to learn and master proprietary software for analytical equipment
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical/electrical problems

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises a team of hourly Laboratory Technicians
• Reviews QC data daily and reports discrepancies to the Chief Chemist in a timely manner
• Administers the department safety program
• Maintains and calibrates all QC-related analytical equipment
• Provides formal, written reports to Chief Chemist as required
• Maintains departmental cleanliness and efficiency
• Generates and tracks equipment repair requests and department supplies purchases
• Reviews and approves payroll; creates work schedules and ensures vacation coverage
• Assists Chief Chemist with stockpile measurements/inventory control
