Job summary

CalPortland is seeking a Quality Control Field Technician to support the Quality Manager by testing and analyzing data to optimize plant efficiency at assigned sites. This role requires chemical testing, material analysis, and strong collaboration with plant operators and customers.

Responsibilities include inspecting plants, sampling aggregates, running ASTM/AASHTO/DOT tests, and reporting findings. Must hold ATTI/ACI credentials or obtain ACI certification within six months, with flexibility

Qualifications

Must obtain and maintain ACI Field Grade Certification within six months.
Requires ability to climb, bend, squat, lift up to 75 pounds regularly; occasionally 100 pounds.
Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Must speak, read, and write in English; able to work flexible hours including overtime.

Responsibilities

Work with plant operator on plant operations and efficiency.
Inspect Batch Plant, aggregate stockpiles, and mix designs at the assigned plant.
Perform Portland cement concrete tests per ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards.
Conduct moisture, temperature, slump, density, air content, and cylinder testing.
Address material/quality issues and troubleshoot as needed.
Coordinate with sales, operations, customer service, and dispatch.
Prepare job incident reports and analyze aggregate/strength data.
Interact with customers and participate in pre-job meetings.
