Position Summary

The QC Junior Analytical Chemist is responsible for supporting daily laboratory operations and quality-related activities within the Quality Control (QC) Analytical Laboratory in Congers, NY. This role ensures that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products meet established specifications to support Quality, Production, and Research & Development (R&D) functions.

Essential Functions
  • Perform routine laboratory testing and analysis to support QC, Production, and R&D activities
  • Prepare samples and reagents required for analytical testing
  • Test in-process materials to verify physical characteristics meet specifications during manufacturing
  • Analyze finished products for preservative and active content to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Conduct testing of raw materials (RM) and review accompanying documentation for compliance
  • Document and release raw materials for production use
  • Test stability samples and communicate any out-of-specification (OOS) results to supervision
  • Review OOS results with Chemist and/or Supervisor and assist in determining next steps
  • Approve and release batches that meet all quality specifications
  • Complete non-conformance reports for out-of-specification or non-compliant products
  • Maintain accurate, clear, and compliant laboratory documentation
  • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment
  • Assist in investigations, method validations, method transfers, and special projects
  • Perform client-specific analytical methods as required
  • Support the Supervisor in implementing quality initiatives and directives
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Chemistry or a related scientific field required.
  • 0–5 years of experience in a cosmetics or related industry preferred. Working knowledge of GMP, GDP, and GLP.
  • Experience with wet chemistry techniques.
  • Hands‑on experience with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC and/or FT‑IR preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and test methods accurately.
  • Strong documentation practices and data integrity awareness.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced laboratory environment.
