Intercos Group in Congers, NY is seeking a Bulk Engineer to drive the scale-up of cosmetic formulations from concept to manufacturing. The role requires translating development work into production-ready processes and leading DOE studies to solve processing challenges.

Success requires strong communication across R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality, with a proactive approach to investigate out-of-spec outcomes and implement CAPAs in a cGMP environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical/Industrial Engineering, or related degree.
• Minimum four (4) years in a science-related industry, preferably cosmetic & personal care in a cGMP manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of chemical processing concepts including heat transfer, mass flow, and instrumental & statistical analysis.
• Exceptional communication skills with an ability to convey data and timelines with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Scale-up development, planning and execution of industrial-scale formulations and filling trials for smooth transition to manufacturing.
• Create and apply DOE to solve processing challenges.
• Operate in a cGMP environment with knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
• Investigate manufacturing non-conformances and implement corrective/preventive actions.

Position Summary

The Bulk Engineer role in Congers, NY is primarily responsible for the scale-up development, planning, and execution of industrial-scale formulations and filling trials to seamlessly transition new cosmetic products from conception to manufacturing. They are charged with being able to identify and solve any development related problems through investigation, observation, and data analysis.

Essential Functions

• Independently study, understand, and execute industrial-scale formulations, pilot, filling, and assembly trials of new cosmetic products for a smooth transition to manufacturing/production scale while providing fluid communication between R&D and Manufacturing. This involves all facets of New Product Introduction: Experimental Design, Execution, Physical Testing, and Quantitative Analysis & Interpretation.
• Quickly acquire the knowledge necessary to create a Design of Experiments (DOE) to solve processing challenges.
• Ability to confidently operate in a cGMP environment with an intimate knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.
• Active participation in the understanding and resolution of new/existing manufacturing issues.
• Investigate out-of-specification manufacturing non-conformances, as needed. Create effective corrective and preventive action plans to resolve.
• Responsible for compliance of assigned work area with company-set standards for manufacturing/lab safety and general maintenance.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum four (4) years in a science-related industry, preferably cosmetic & personal care in a cGMP manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of chemical processing concepts including heat transfer, mass flow, and instrumental & statistical analysis and how it is applied to personal care products.
• Exceptional communication skills with an ability to effectively convey complicated data and timelines with all cross-functional teams; R&D Formulation Chemists, Technical & Operational Manufacturing, Packaging, and Marketing/Product Development. Proficiency in MS Office applications.
