Job summary

Dwyer Instruments Inc. is seeking a QC Inspector in Michigan City, IN to assure conformance of incoming parts, in-process items, and finished goods with engineering specifications. The role reports to the QC Lead on the shop floor and involves inspection, data entry, and collaboration with Quality engineers.

The position requires a strong eye for detail, ability to read blueprints, use measuring tools, and follow sampling instructions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Follow instructions and work in production operations responsibly.

• Must have good eyesight including depth perception and color differentiation.
• Must pass a mathematics test.
• Attention to detail to catch inconsistencies in parts and sub-assemblies.
• Proficient with prints, instruments, and gauges.
• Understand engineering requirements and simple sampling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming parts to prints, specifications and standards.
• Use blueprints to locate engineering data (size, material, surface finish, thread).
• Inspect first piece of production run and other specified items.
• Inspect finished sub-assemblies and products for workmanship and conformance; identify defects.
• Periodically inspect in-process work per routing and sampling instructions.
• Advise Line Leaders or QC Engineer of unacceptable parts or finished goods.
• Disassemble and analyze defective units to determine failure modes and report results.
• Sort scrap and enter data into the MRM system.
• Maintain housekeeping in the work area.

Summary:?

The QC Inspector located in Michigan City, IN reports to our QC Lead and is responsible for inspecting incoming parts from vendors, parts in process and finished goods to assure conformance to quality control requirements established by the company's engineering department.?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:?

• Inspect incoming parts to prints, specifications and industrial standards, variety of test devices and measuring instruments.?
• Use blueprints to find engineering data such as size, material, surface finished, thread, etc. in the Incoming inspection area.?
• Inspect first piece of production run in the print shop area and where otherwise noted.?
• Inspect finished sub assembly parts and finished product for quality of workmanship, calibration and conformance to standard or special parts list data.? Identify defects for repair or line correction.?
• Periodically inspect in-process work according to route and sampling instruction received from Quality Control Engineer.?
• Advise Line Leaders and/or Quality Control Engineer of unacceptable parts or finished product.???
• Perform disassembly and analysis on defective line units to determine failure modes, record information and advice Line Leaders, Quality Control Engineer of results.?
• Sort scrap for assessment and disposition. Enter scrap data into MRM system.?
• Responsible for general housekeeping in the assigned work area.?
