Job summary

Astronics Test Systems is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to support aerospace manufacturing. You will perform receiving, in‑process, and final inspections against internal procedures and customer requirements, using precision tools and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, piece parts, subassemblies, and assemblies against acceptance criteria defined by internal procedures, customer requirements, applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering drawings.
• Conduct inspections using precision measurement tools and equipment, including rulers, calipers, gauges and micrometers as applicable.
• Collaborate closely with peers, Project Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure manufacturing and inspection activities comply with established processes and quality requirements.
• Communicate effectively with buyers and cross‑functional stakeholders regarding supplier quality issues and delivery‑related discrepancies.
• Accurately complete receiving inspection transactions within the ERP system.
• Document and record in‑process and final inspection results in manufacturing routers, quality logs, and applicable quality system repositories.
• Initiate and document Nonconforming Material Reports (NMRs) in accordance with established procedures and work instructions to ensure proper control of nonconforming material.

Job description

General Summary:

Astronics Test Systems is seeking a Quality Control Inspector with experience in the aerospace industry and a strong understanding of Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, including ISO 9001 and AS9100. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, piece parts, subassemblies, and assemblies against acceptance criteria defined by internal procedures, customer requirements, applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering drawings.
2. Conduct inspections using precision measurement tools and equipment, including rulers, calipers, gauges and micrometers as applicable.
3. Collaborate closely with peers, Project Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure manufacturing and inspection activities comply with established processes and quality requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

1. Inspection process knowledge with the ability to use standard inspection tools
2. Ability to interpret engineering drawings
3. Experience identifying, documenting, and reporting nonconformances within a quality management system that conforms to ISO9001 and AS9100 requirements.
4. Three years of quality control inspection experience in a manufacturing or production environment

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Associate’s degree or technical certification in Quality, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field
2. Working knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
3. Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
4. ASQ Certified Quality Inspector
5. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S
6. Proficiency with advanced inspection equipment (e.g., Keyence XM CMM)

Education/Experience:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
2. Three years of quality control inspection experience in a manufacturing or production environment with a Quality Management System structured per ISO9001/AS9100.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate skill level required in:

• Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and MS Teams
• Adobe Acrobat Reader
