Job summary

Astronics Test Systems is hiring an Electrical and Mechanical Assembler in Orlando. You will assemble, test, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components in a manufacturing setting, following 3D models, schematics, and work instructions.

You will perform wiring, soldering, and basic mechanical assembly, use hand and power tools, inspect quality, and document production records while following safety guidelines. Training and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training in electrical or mechanical assembly is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electrical or mechanical assembly processes and tools.
  • Experience with band saws, hole drilling, disk sander, bench grinder, and arbor press.
  • CNC, CAD, CAM experience (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or Fusion) is a plus.
  • 3D printing experience is a plus; Brother/Brady label machine experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics; read work instructions and measure with calipers/multimeters.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components per models, work instructions, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Perform wiring, soldering, crimping, and basic mechanical assembly as needed.
  • Use hand and power tools and specialized equipment to complete tasks.
  • Inspect assembled products for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specs.
  • Identify and address basic defects; escalate complex issues to supervision.
  • Conduct basic functional tests on assembled systems and components.
  • Maintain organized workstations and accurate production documentation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and company/regulatory guidelines.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Electrical and Mechanical Assembler. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical components and systems in a manufacturing or production environment. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components according to 3D model, work instructions, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Perform wiring, soldering, crimping, and basic mechanical assembly as needed.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete assembly tasks.
  • Inspect assembled products for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Identify and address basic assembly defects or errors, escalating more complex issues to the supervisor.
  • Conduct basic functional tests on assembled systems and components.
  • Identify and repair minor issues or ensure proper escalation for more complex problems.
  • Maintain neat and organized workstations, tools, and materials.
  • Accurately complete required documentation, such as work logs or production records.
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor equipment and work areas to maintain safe and clean working conditions.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues in a team-oriented environment.
  • Can be self-sufficient with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and development to enhance assembly skills.
Qualifications
Education

High school diploma or GED is required; vocational or technical training in electrical or mechanical assembly is a plus.

Experience
  • Familiarity with electrical or mechanical assembly processes and tools (such as Band saws, hole drilling, Disk sander, Bench grinder, Arbor press ect.), On-the-job training will be provided.
  • CNC, CAD, CAM experience (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or fusion) is a plus.
  • 3D printing experience is a plus
  • Brother and Brady label machine experience is a plus
Technical Skills
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions (preferred).
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices (e.g., calipers, multimeters).
Soft Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Microsoft office 365.
Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
