Job summary

Met-Con, Inc. seeks an experienced QC Inspector to support our structural steel fabrication team on 2nd shift in Cocoa, Florida. This role conducts in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.5, shop drawings, and project specs.

You will maintain inspection records, identify non-conformances, and support continuous improvement with production teams; a welding certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in structural steel layout, fabrication, or quality inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and construction plans.
• Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with production personnel.
• Ability to identify quality issues and document findings accurately.
• Must be able to work 2nd shift at our Cocoa, Florida facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document daily inspections of fabricated structural steel in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 requirements.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections of fabricated materials.
• Verify dimensional layouts and part placement against shop drawings.
• Ensure fabricated materials meet approved shop drawings and project specifications.
• Identify, document, and assist with the resolution of non-conforming work.
• Work with production teams to address quality concerns and maintain production standards.
• Participate in annual AISC quality control audits.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure thorough documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen quality and fabrication processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Met-Con, Inc. is seeking an experienced QC Inspector to support our structural steel fabrication team on 2nd shift. This position is responsible for conducting in-process and final inspections to ensure fabricated structural steel meets applicable quality standards, approved shop drawings, and project specifications in an AISC-certified facility.

Please note: This position is based in Cocoa, Florida, not Orlando. Candidates must be able to commute to the Cocoa facility.
