Job summary

Unigen Corporation in Newark, CA is seeking a QC Inspector for AXI/5DX on Swing Shift to operate the AXI machine and perform quality inspections. The role reports to Quality Engineering and supports production with data collection and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements include at least 3 years operating AXI equipment, a High School Diploma, knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100/ISO 13485 and ESD, and IPC‑A‑610 certification. Salary range shown is hourly.

Job description

Job Title: QC Inspector – AXI/5DX (Swing Shift)

Job Function: Manufacturing Quality

Job Summary: The QC Inspector – AXI/5DX operates the AXI machine, performs quality inspections using AXI, reports to Quality Engineering Manager and is located in Newark, CA.

Primary Job Responsibilities

1. Operate the AXI machine
   • Responsible for the entire AXI operation/line support activities.
   • Review AXI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of component placement and solder joint defects.
   • Work closely with the processing and engineering teams to improve visual defect yields and resolve processing issues.
2. Perform AXI related quality inspection tasks
   • Using the AXI computer-operated machine, inspect components or feature chips, ICs, joints, text, connectors, etc.
   • Using magnification aids, inspect to IPC‑A‑610 standards.
   • Read and interpret assembly drawings, bills of material (BOMs), MPI, ECN, Deviation and other manufacturing documentation related to inspection.
   • Load AXI programs per instructions.
   • Perform AXI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of SMT paste and component placement.
3. Support engineers and production operators with equipment training, data collection and system evaluations
   • Assist engineers in data collection and engineering evaluations.
   • Support improvement initiatives and participate actively to improve work environment (5S).
4. Other duties and responsibilities related to AXI Support and Production as assigned.
