Job summary

ESS Metron in Denver, CO is seeking a QC Incoming Inspector at multiple levels to ensure parts and assemblies meet stringent quality standards. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience measuring electrical components in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience using Excel, Word, and Quality Management software to document readings.
  • Able to read and understand quality standards, SOPs and measurements.
  • Basic understanding of multimeter functions and mechanical inspection requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming inspections for parts and equipment, including visual and functional tests.
  • Create nonconformance reports for parts that do not meet specifications.
  • Coordinate labeling and packaging verification with receiving teams.
  • Conduct basic dimensional inspections with micrometers/calipers/feeler gauges to meet specs.
  • Record results on appropriate QA reports and escalate non-conformances to QA management.
  • Learn inline production checklist procedures and assist as needed.
  • Support other duties as assigned to ensure quality across production.

About this role

The QC Inspection Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that all parts, assemblies, and finished products meet ESS Metron's rigorous quality standards and specifications. Working within the Quality Assurance department, this role is responsible for conducting inspections, documenting nonconformances, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across the production floor. This role is structured across three levels — QC Inspection Technician I, II, and III — allowing individuals to grow their skills and advance their careers as they deepen their expertise in quality control and manufacturing inspection.

What you'll be doing
QC Incoming Inspector I
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a "Safety First" mentality across the team.
  • Manage all incoming inspections for parts and equipment, including visual and functional testing.
  • Perform quality checks on all incoming received parts and document any deficiencies, damage, or concerns.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical functional tests on all received parts to confirm that no damage was sustained during shipping and record results on appropriate reports.
  • Coordinate with the receiving team to ensure proper labeling is documented on packaging, verifying that received parts meet Quality Standards.
  • Perform basic dimensional inspections on parts using micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, etc. to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Create nonconformance reports for parts that do not meet product specifications.
  • Inform appropriate management and production team members of rejected parts.
  • Escalate and report all non-compliances identified across inspection points to QA management in a timely manner.
  • Begin to learn the in-line production checklist procedures for product lines of the business.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
QC Incoming Inspector II
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a "Safety First" mentality across the team.
  • Responsible for managing all quality pass and fail decision points for in-process and finished products, including fabricated material and assemblies.
  • Perform quality checks in department to verify that product meets company standard and specification.
  • Perform verification of assembled parts by conducting torque checks and other industry or customer-specific measurements to ensure they meet standard.
  • Perform visual inspections of assembled products or subassemblies to identify any potential assembly defects.
  • Perform dimensional inspections on parts using micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, etc. to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Create nonconformance reports for parts that do not meet product specifications.
  • Inform appropriate management and production team members of rejected parts.
  • Complete first article logs and properly save them to the Quality tracking system.
  • Assigned as needed for essential duties of QC Inspection Technician I to support business priorities.
  • Escalate and report all non-compliances identified across inspection points to QA management in a timely manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
QC Incoming Inspector III
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a "Safety First" mentality across the team.
  • Responsible for managing all quality pass and fail decision points for in-process and finished products, including fabricated material and assemblies.
  • Support management with day-to-day QA schedules to align inspection team tasks with master production schedules and priority jobs.
  • Perform routine and ad-hoc assessments of current and newly implemented inspection processes and data points across all inspection areas to confirm viability and compliance.
  • Identify and propose improvements for operational gaps based on available data and/or involve management to further investigate questionable or unknown deficiencies including inventory, fabrication, assembly, logistics, and engineering among other business functions.
  • Create nonconformance reports for parts that do not meet product specifications.
  • Inform appropriate management and production team members of rejected parts.
  • Complete first article logs and properly save them to the Quality tracking system.
  • Serve as the first line escalation point for all inspection non-compliance cases to evaluate with Operational Excellence Management for devising corrective action.
  • Assigned as needed for essential duties of QC Inspection Technician I & II to support business priorities.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
What you'll have

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience measuring electrical components in a manufacturing capacity or related field preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Excel, Word, and Quality Management software to document quality readings and issues.
  • Able to upload and retrieve appropriate documents from shared drives and other storage retention locations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to read and understand quality standards, SOPs, and measurements.

QC Incoming Inspector II
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some undergraduate coursework completed in Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in measuring electrical components in a manufacturing capacity or related field preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Excel, Word, and Quality Management software to document quality readings and issues.
  • Able to upload and retrieve appropriate documents from shared drives and other storage retention locations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to read and understand quality standards, SOPs, and measurements.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tooling, and programs.
QC Incoming Inspector III
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 4–8 years of experience in measuring electrical components in a manufacturing capacity or related field preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Excel, Word, and Quality Management software to document quality readings and issues.
  • Able to upload and retrieve appropriate documents from shared drives and other storage retention locations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to read and understand quality standards, SOPs, and measurements.
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing processes and supporting systems and equipment.
Physical requirements and work environment
  • Operates in an active manufacturing facility.
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts.
  • Moderate noise level work environment.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
