Job summary

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a QC Scientist for the San Antonio, TX area to support QC manufacturing with analytical testing of raw materials. The role involves operating analytical instruments, data analysis, and documentation for release of materials.

Requirements include a bachelor’s or associate degree in a related science, 1+ years of HPLC/GC experience in pharma, and strong attention to detail. Day shift, 10-hour days, contract-to-hire position with growth potential.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience including Release and/or Raw Materials testing with HPLC and GC instrumentation in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical instructions
  • Ability to run chromatography software (Empower and Chromeleon) from existing methods for data collection and analysis
  • Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills and strict attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Performs chemical and physical tests required for quality control as testing and evaluation of results for products and processes.
  • Analyzes samples using laboratory methods, performs calculations and data analysis, and provides documentation for review and release of raw materials.
  • Performing basic troubleshooting of instruments
  • Uses laboratory instrumentation such as gas chromatographs, liquid chromatographs, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, etc.
  • Prepares reagents and equipment to expedite analysis, measures and weighs chemicals, standardizes solutions, and assembles equipment.
  • Weights and calculates samples in physical and chemical analysis of products using balances and volumetric containers.
  • Organizes and labels samples, sample preparations, and volumetric solutions.
  • Analyzes samples using laboratory methods (SMA, USP, FCC, EP), performs calculations and documentation for release of raw materials.
  • Continuing training on analytical methods to achieve proficiency in testing raw materials for production and R&D projects
  • Assists in basic laboratory operations to support analytical testing
  • Basic troubleshooting for instruments and methods to meet sample testing requirements
  • Team player capable of working with management, QC Scientists, and Lab Assistants to achieve goals

Currently seeking a QC Scientist for one of our top clients in the San Antonio, TX area.
This role will be responsible for laboratory analyses supporting QC manufacturing.
  • Hourly pay rate: $25
  • Contract-to-Hire
  • Monday-Thursday – 10-hour workdays; Day Shift
Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs chemical and physical tests required for quality control as testing and evaluation of results for products and processes.
  • Analyzes samples using the methods in the laboratory, performs calculations and data analysis, and provides appropriate and compliant documentation for review and release of raw materials.
  • Performing basic troubleshooting of instruments
  • Using laboratory instrumentation such as gas chromatographs, liquid chromatographs, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometers, etc.
  • Treats numerical data throughout chemical analysis by performing mathematical calculations such as determining concentrations (molarity, parts per million, normality, etc.) and statistical information (standard deviation, mean, etc.)
  • Prepares necessary reagents and equipment to expedite the performance of analysis by measuring and/or weighing chemicals, missing and standardizing solutions, and assembling equipment.
  • Weights and calculate samples in the physical and chemical analysis of products using balances and measured volumetric containers.
  • Organize and properly label samples, sample preparations, volumetric solutions etc.
  • Analyzes samples using laboratory methods (SMA, USP, FCC, EP), performs calculations and data analysis, and provides appropriate and compliant documentation for review and release of raw materials.
  • Continue training on analytical methods to achieve proficiency in testing any/all raw materials for commercial release of production and R&D projects to include method verification testing.
  • Assists in the basic operations of the laboratory in support of the essential analytical testing.
  • Basic trouble shooting for instruments and methods to meet sample testing requirements.
  • Must be a team player who works well with management, QC Scientists, and Lab Assistants to achieve assigned goals. Able to present a positive attitude and a professional demeanor.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Biology Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline
  • 1+ years of experience including Release and /or Raw Materials testing with HPLC and GC Instrumentation in a pharmaceutical environment is preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical instructions including methods of analysis documents, SOPs and certificate of analysis
  • Ability to run chromatography software (Empower and Chromeleon, etc.) from existing methods the computer used for data collection and analysis
  • Computer proficient, especially with Microsoft Office products
  • 1st Shift – Monday-Thursday 7am-5:30pm and OFF on Friday
  • Excellent communication skills and strict attention to detail will be keys to success in this role.
