Primary Function:

The QA/QC Specialist is responsible for performing quality assurance and quality control inspections, documentation, and compliance verification in support of Dashiell’s high-voltage substation and electrical infrastructure construction projects. Working under the direction of construction and quality leadership, the QA/QC Specialist conducts field inspections, records inspection results and nonconformances, maintains quality documentation, and verifies that work performed conforms to project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and approved procedures. The position will be project based with regular deployment to active project sites, and will report to Dashiell’s Director of Construction.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Perform field inspections of construction and installation work, comparing completed work against project drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI).
  • Document inspection results, test records, and quality observations using project checklists and inspection and test plans (ITPs).
  • Identify, document, and track nonconformances (NCRs); route them to the appropriate project and quality personnel for disposition and verify that corrective actions are completed.
  • Perform receiving inspections of materials and equipment delivered to the job site, verifying conformance to purchase order requirements, specifications, and approved submittals.
  • Maintain organized and complete quality records, including inspection reports, test records, certifications, and turnover documentation, in accordance with project quality procedures.
  • Witness and document field testing and commissioning activities performed by field crews and subcontractors.
  • Verify that controlled documents used at the job site — including design drawings, supplier and subcontractor drawings, and procedures — are current, properly maintained, and stored in accordance with project requirements.
  • Inspect work performed by subcontractors and review associated quality documentation for completeness and compliance.
  • Compile and submit inspection documentation in support of Project Quality Management Plan requirements; assist internal and client quality audits by gathering and organizing requested records.
  • Communicate inspection findings, documentation status, and open items to project management and construction supervision.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Required

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field preferred (2 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in construction quality control/assurance, field inspection, or a related construction or industrial role.
  • Working knowledge of construction inspection practices, quality documentation, and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to use electronic documentation and quality management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records across multiple concurrent activities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with field crews, subcontractors, and project management.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. This is a field-based, safety-sensitive position requiring regular travel to active project sites.

Preferred

  • Experience in high-voltage substation, transmission, or electrical infrastructure construction.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification
  • Quality- or inspection-related certifications (e.g., ASNT, AWS Certified Welding Inspector, or similar inspection/testing credentials).
  • Experience working with inspection and test plans (ITPs) and nonconformance reporting processes.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours).
