Job summary

Jobtailor in Ashburn, VA seeks a dedicated quality assurance professional to design and execute comprehensive test plans for web-based enterprise software. You will collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to reproduce issues, perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and user acceptance testing, and validate data with SQL when needed.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required and eligibility for government security clearance (CBP Public Trust Final).
• 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance and manual testing.
• Experience testing web-based applications and enterprise software solutions.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC.
• Experience creating and executing test cases, test scenarios, and test plans.
• Hands-on experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar defect management tools.
• Ability to analyze requirements and identify testing gaps and risks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter with problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Preferred: SQL and database validation testing.
• Preferred: Familiarity with data integration.
• Preferred: Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
• Preferred: Experience supporting cloud-based applications and services.

Responsibilities

• Review business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications to understand system behavior and acceptance criteria.
• Design, document, and execute detailed test cases, test scenarios, and test plans.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and user acceptance testing.
• Identify, document, track, and verify software defects using Jira or similar defect management tools.
• Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Execute database and data validation testing using SQL queries where applicable.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.
• Maintain comprehensive testing documentation, defect logs, and quality metrics.
• Support release validation and post-deployment verification activities.
• Validate application functionality, data accuracy, and system integrations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, standards, and documentation.
