Job summary

Dawn Foods – Jackson Manufacturing Plant in Jackson, Michigan is seeking a Part‑Time Quality Assurance Tech I for the day shift (Sat & Sun, 6:00 am–4:00 pm). You will perform daily quality activities in the plant, including process and GMP audits and laboratory testing to ensure ingredients and finished goods meet specifications.

As a QA Tech I, you will identify quality issues, report them, and help initiate corrective actions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of experience in supporting plants and assessing quality programs.
• Science-related background or lab experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Problem solving in variable situations.
• Ability to work well with others and independently.
• Knowledge of basic lab equipment such as water activity, viscometers.
• Basic math, record keeping and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and inspects and tests the products in process or in the lab. Ensures the products meet all specifications. Records all information and reports any discrepancies.
• Monitors and checks the calibration of measuring equipment and the operation of metal detectors to ensure proper operation. Reports any problems immediately.
• Performs formula audits and process audits, documents audit results.
• Monitors adherence to all food safety and quality programs including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices and the Food Safety Plan. Reports any problems to the appropriate Lead/Supervisor.
• Performs environmental swabbing per the schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Assists in the investigation of out of compliance products.

• Must be able to work in an environment where various allergens are present in shipments and ingredients.
