Job summary

Halperns' Steak & Seafood is hiring a 1st shift Quality Assurance Technician in Kalamazoo, MI. You will monitor GMP compliance, verify SOP adherence, and support production through training and daily task execution.

Starting pay is $24 per hour with early morning shifts from 4:30am–1pm or 8am until finish. The role requires strong attention to detail, good written and verbal communication, and the ability to operate in cold environments while ensuring food safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from -10 to 45 F for extended periods of time.
• Good written and oral communication.
• Effective time management to accomplish all of the day’s assigned tasks.
• Should be extremely thorough and detail-oriented.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Food Science certification or similar degree in a related field is preferred.
• HACCP trained or certified preferred.
• Safety training for warehouse machinery and PPE preferred.
• If no formal quality assurance experience or training, then food production and/or distribution experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and documents the adherence of the facility’s Good Manufacturing Practices and SOPs.
• Makes rounds through production and processing areas of the facility to verify GMPs.
• Assists and trains personnel.
• Completes daily assigned tasks.
