Job summary

WL Plastics in Rapid City, SD seeks a Quality Assurance Technician to support our quality program through visual inspections and testing with precision instruments.

You will report to the QA Manager, conduct tests in the lab or on the floor, document results, maintain quality records, and help prepare equipment certifications. Flexibility for longer hours and weekend work may be required to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, or 1–2 years relevant experience.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Must be able to work safely in a production environment.
• U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Perform product compliance with WL Plastics quality program as defined in the Quality Program Manual (QPM).
• Conduct tests on products and samples in the lab or facility to determine conformance with the QPM, standards, and customer specs.
• Evaluate test results and determine conformance or non-conformance.
• Maintain records of quality tests, production, and product conformance.
• Prepare and forward quality equipment certifications.
• Maintain laboratory and quality equipment certifications.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Quality Manager.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to wear PPE, including but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses and steel toe footwear that meets ASTM F-2413-2005 standards while in required locations.
• The employee will be required to: read, communicate verbally and in written form, remember and analyze certain information, and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines.
• While performing duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk and sit, the employee is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle and feel and to reach with hands.
• Timewillbespentamongoffice,productionfloor,andlabareas.Alargemajorityoftimemay be spent working on the production floor. This is not a laboratoryposition.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and inclement weather during their shifts, excluding breaks.
• Workcloselywithproductionsupervisors,productionpersonnel,plantmanager,andother personnel as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• This position combines hands-on technical analysis and administrative tasks.
• Time will be spent among office, production floor, and lab areas. A large majority of time may be spent working on the production floor. This is not a laboratory position.
• Work closely with production supervisors, production personnel, plant manager, and other personnel as required.

TRAINING:

• The company provides training in safety. Lab equipment operation, quality procedures, quality tool operation, and quality requirements.
