Job summary

Farmer Focus is seeking a Food Safety Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead the QA technician team and drive continuous improvement of quality and food safety programs at our Liberty Facility. This on-site role supports regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction on the 2nd shift.

You will verify AQL, SSOP, HACCP, GMP, and prerequisite programs daily, maintain records, and partner with USDA reps while guiding staff to uphold standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Poultry Science, or a related field required.
• Minimum of four years of relevant experience in a comparable food safety/quality assurance role required.
• HACCP certification preferred.
• Working knowledge of SSOP, HACCP, GMP, AQL, traceability, prerequisite programs, and regulatory food safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support the day-to-day performance and productivity of the Quality Assurance technician team.
• Identify, develop, maintain, and improve Farmer Focus quality and food safety policies, programs, and procedures.
• Verify AQL, SSOP, HACCP, GMP, and prerequisite program documentation daily to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Maintain organized and effective SSOP, HACCP, GMP, and prerequisite program records, providing timely feedback to management on audit results and trends.
• Build and maintain a strong, positive working relationship with USDA representatives and stay current on applicable SSOP and HACCP regulations.
• Proactively monitor the production floor to identify quality and food safety concerns before they develop and implement process improvement strategies.
• Support execution of product food safety and quality programs that contribute to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure complete traceability of incoming raw materials and finished product, including effective lot code tracking.
• Participate in food safety audits as requested and support corrective action follow-up.
• Provide or coordinate training for production team members on quality measurements, SSOP, HACCP, GMP, and core quality competencies.
• Train QA team members before implementation of new or updated food safety programs and procedures.
• Take hands‑on ownership of quality and food safety issues that arise during the shift, developing appropriate solutions, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
• Assist the Quality Assurance Manager with projects, delegated tasks, reporting, and cross‑functional initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support plant quality, food safety, and operational needs.

Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

The Food Safety Quality Assurance Supervisor leads and supports the Quality Assurance technician team while driving continuous improvement of Farmer Focus quality and food safety programs. This role is responsible for maintaining and verifying quality systems, including AQL, SSOP, HACCP, GMP, traceability, and prerequisite programs, while partnering closely with production, USDA, and plant leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

Compensation

Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000/yr. The posted compensation range for this role reflects the minimum and maximum amount Farmer Focus in good faith expects to pay at the time of posting, based on factors such as internal equity, relevant experience, market data, and the budgeted amount available for the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Food Science, Meat Science, Poultry Science, or a related field required.


• Minimum of four years of relevant experience in a comparable food safety, quality assurance, meat, poultry, or food manufacturing role required.


• HACCP certification preferred.


• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve quality and food safety issues.


• Demonstrated cross‑functional leadership skills, including the ability to coach, mentor, train, and support team members.


• Working knowledge of SSOP, HACCP, GMP, AQL, traceability, prerequisite programs, and regulatory food safety requirements.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, UltiPro, and Workday.


• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

This role is performed in a variety of settings, including office areas, outside grounds, and the plant production floor. The team member may be exposed to varying plant conditions, including cold areas, warm areas, chemicals, wet or slippery surfaces, production equipment, noise, and other site conditions. The role requires regular presence on the production floor and adherence to all applicable safety, GMP, PPE, food safety, and quality requirements. This position does not have an application deadline. Farmer Focus will recruit until the role is filled.
