Job summary

EMC Mechanical Services in Richmond, VA is seeking a motivated Field QA/QC Technician to support the quality of commercial mechanical and plumbing installations. You will work with project teams to verify installations meet project drawings, specs, codes, and EMC quality standards, and assist in developing quality checklists.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • 1–3 years of commercial mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or construction experience preferred.
  • Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and MS Office experience preferred.
  • Fluent English verbal and written skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine field inspections of mechanical and plumbing installations to verify conformance with drawings, specs, contract documents, and codes.
  • Document deficiencies with photographs and reports; track corrective actions to completion.
  • Perform pre-final inspections prior to owner, engineer, or commissioning reviews.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Supervisors, Foremen, and subcontractors during inspections; communicate quality concerns and solutions.
  • Maintain QA/QC reports and inspection logs; assist with project closeout documentation and startup test reports.
  • Identify recurring issues and promote improved installation practices across EMC projects.

This position is responsible for helping ensure all work is installed in accordance with project plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, and EMC quality standards. The Field QA/QC Technician will work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to identify and correct deficiencies before owner, engineer, or third-party inspections.
