Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific mechanical QA/QC plans, inspection procedures, and testing requirements.
  • Perform field inspections of plumbing, piping, HVAC, and related mechanical system installations.
  • Verify installations comply with drawings, specifications, codes, manufacturer requirements, and project standards.
  • Inspect rough-in work, equipment installation, system completion, testing, startup, and turnover activities.
  • Monitor construction activities and identify deficiencies, nonconforming work, and quality concerns.
  • Issue and track inspection reports, punch lists, nonconformances, corrective actions, and turnover documentation.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Coordinate inspections with project managers, subcontractors, commissioning teams, engineers, and owners.
  • Witness and document pressure testing, startup, commissioning, and system acceptance.
  • Ensure inspections/tests are completed before systems are concealed or operated.
  • Maintain QA/QC records and turnover packages.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective-action planning.

Alternative Locations: Plano, Houston, San Antonio, Amarillo, Lubbock, or Midland, Texas; Phoenix/Tempe or Tucson, Arizona

Elite Executive Solutions is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Manager to oversee quality assurance, quality control, and field inspection activities for a leading mechanical construction organization.

Dallas is the preferred home base; however, qualified candidates may operate from one of several locations throughout Texas or Arizona. Travel to project sites may be required based on project assignments.

This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned mechanical construction professional with extensive inspection experience involving plumbing, piping, HVAC, and related mechanical systems.

The preferred candidate will have a background as a mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC inspector and possess the technical expertise to evaluate installations, enforce project specifications and applicable codes, identify deficiencies, and ensure systems are properly tested, documented, commissioned, and turned over to the client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific mechanical QA/QC plans, inspection procedures, and testing requirements.
  • Perform field inspections of plumbing, piping, HVAC, and related mechanical system installations.
  • Verify that installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and project quality standards.
  • Inspect rough-in work, equipment installation, system completion, testing, startup, commissioning, and final turnover activities.
  • Monitor mechanical construction activities and identify deficiencies, nonconforming work, and potential quality concerns.
  • Issue and track inspection reports, punch-list items, nonconformance reports, corrective actions, and closeout documentation.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and construction directives.
  • Coordinate inspections and quality activities with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, commissioning teams, engineers, general contractors, owners, and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Witness and document pressure testing, flushing, equipment startup, functional testing, testing and balancing, commissioning, and system acceptance.
  • Confirm required inspections and tests are completed and documented before systems are concealed, insulated, placed into operation, or turned over.
  • Maintain accurate QA/QC records, including inspection and test plans, daily reports, deficiency logs, testing documentation, commissioning records, and turnover packages.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective-action planning when quality issues arise.
  • Provide field teams with guidance regarding mechanical codes, project standards, installation requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings, coordination meetings, job walks, and project closeout activities.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, code compliance, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of mechanical construction, plumbing, piping, HVAC, inspection, commissioning, or QA/QC experience.
  • Strong field inspection experience involving commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or mission-critical mechanical systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing, piping, HVAC, and associated mechanical installations.
  • Previous experience as a mechanical inspector, plumbing inspector, HVAC inspector, QA/QC Manager, QA/QC Specialist, or senior mechanical field professional strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, coordination drawings, and applicable codes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical and plumbing codes, including IMC, IPC, UPC, UMC, NFPA standards, and local requirements.
  • Experience inspecting system installation, testing, startup, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Familiarity with hydronic piping, domestic water, sanitary and storm systems, HVAC equipment, ductwork, controls, and related mechanical systems.
  • Experience preparing inspection reports, deficiency logs, nonconformance reports, punch lists, and turnover documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, project leadership, engineers, clients, and inspectors.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • ICC mechanical, plumbing, or related inspection certification highly preferred.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.
