Job summary

ICF in Newark, NJ seeks an Associate QA/QC Inspector to support residential energy programs by performing field inspections, QA/QC reviews, and inspections reports. You will coordinate QA activities and work with contractors to ensure installations meet program standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Business (Energy/Environmental/Building Sciences) and 1+ year experience in energy efficiency, HVAC, or weatherization, with willingness to travel across New Jersey.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business in (Energy, Environmental, Building Sciences or related discipline) (or applicants can substitute one year of related experience for one year of education)
  • 1+ years of experience in utility, energy efficiency, HVAC, weatherization and/or related experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • BPI BA-T and BA-P certification or willingness to obtain with 90 days
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass MVR, background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Performing installation inspections and energy savings calculations, HVAC system assessment, operations, and maintenance
  • Interacting with homeowners, contractors, builders, raters, representatives, and other key stakeholders
  • Coordination of Quality Assurance activities such as completing inspection reports, coordinating with utility QA/QC teams, and facilitating communication with contractors
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for local travel. Requirements are up to 80% of the time throughout New Jersey in order to perform field inspections (reimbursement for mileage provided)

QA/QC Inspection Specialist - Residential Energy Program - ICF - NJ

Support residential energy programs by ensuring quality and compliance through field inspections and QA/QC reviews. This role partners with contractors and stakeholders to verify installations, resolve issues, and maintain high program standards while driving energy-saving outcomes.

Location: Newark, NJ - candidates must be located or willing to relocate to New Jersey to be considered

To support our growth, we are currently seeking an Associate Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Inspector to join residential energy efficiency teams located in Newark, NJ. The selected candidate will coordinate all quality assurance activities which include but may not be limited to post field inspections, work in progress and safety observations at residential properties. In addition, they will assist with the development and implementation of QA/QC plans, and procedures.

They will also conduct QA investigations of non-conforming program contractors, coordinate corrective actions, and maintain QA records using Sightline.

What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree Business in (Energy, Environmental, Building Sciences or related discipline) (or applicants can substitute one year of related experience for one year of education)
  • 1+ years of experience in utility, energy efficiency, HVAC, weatherization and/or related experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • BPI(Building Performance Institute)BA-T andBA-P certification or willingness to obtain with 90 days
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check, background check and drug screening

What we would like you to have (preferred qualifications):

  • Experience performing energy audits and quality assurance inspections in residential customer homes
  • BPI Analyst or HERS Rater certification
  • Knowledge of energy efficient technologies and practices related to Weatherization, HVAC systems, smart thermostats, and other residential buildingenergy technologies
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Blower Door testing and Combustion Safety Testing
  • Experience with HVAC system assessment, operations, and maintenance
  • Prior experience delivering and developing technical trainings for subcontractors

Compensation: Although the posted range below is broader, this position is anticipated to offer a base salary in the $60,000-74,000 range. Actual compensation may vary based on the candidate’s location, experience, and other relevant factors.
