Job summary

Takealot Group is seeking a QA Manager (Merchant) to lead multiple QA teams, shape a cohesive QA strategy, and drive automation initiatives across UI and services. You will mentor teams, align QA with product goals, and ensure robust testing throughout the SDLC in a fast-paced ecommerce environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of Software QA experience in a software/technology environment, with 2 years in QA management.
• Experience managing QA across multiple teams to align with best practices and cohesive strategies.
• Strong background in scalable QA processes and strategies for continuous improvement.
• Proven SDLC testing experience (development, unit, API, performance, system testing).
• Hands-on expertise in glassbox and behavior-based testing with clear test plans and cases.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting, with Jenkins or other CI/CD applications.
• Experience with automation frameworks (Playwright) and in-house tools in Python and Kotlin; version control.
• Performance and security testing experience is advantageous.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide strategic oversight to multiple QA teams across diverse products and stakeholders.
• Foster coordination and communication among QA teams and product stakeholders to align QA strategy.
• Cultivate autonomous teams to focus on strategic QA enhancements and innovation.
• Engage in QA processes to derive insights and drive improvements.
• Build alliances with product teams to synchronize QA goals with business strategies.
• Contribute to Community of Practice for QA within engineering.
• Spearhead recruitment to attract top QA talent.
• Elevate development quality by instituting superior testing processes with engineers.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to roadmap automation initiatives and expand UI and service test coverage.
• Ensure teams develop, execute and maintain comprehensive test cases; maintain test data integrity.
• Identify testing gaps and resolve with automation engineers and QA Analysts.
• Maintain rigorous bug tracking and regression testing standards.
• Incorporate production feedback to update test coverage and cases.
• Increase code coverage across unit, service, and functional levels.
• Develop and share status reports on test outcomes for project timelines.
• Mentor and coach test teams and engineers on testing methodologies and automation.
