Job summary

AMSPEC in Gonzales, TX seeks a QA/QC professional to lead quality control activities, maintain QA documentation, and support ISO certification.

The role oversees SQC data, PT coordination, audits, and training, ensuring compliance and continual improvement of Quality System Manuals; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 2 years of quality related experience.
  • 5+ years of quality related experience.
  • Strong managerial experience and interpersonal skills, as well as technical and theoretical knowledge of quality systems.
  • Good interpersonal communication with employees and outside consultants, executive management, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as focal point for QA/QC and oversee quality control data.
  • Compile daily SQC data from all test methods that require SQC.
  • Coordinate internal and external Proficiency Testing activities for the laboratory.
  • Prepare and maintain SQC charts and Proficiency Testing summaries.
  • Assist with continual improvement and implementation of the Quality System Manual (QSM) and Laboratory Quality System Manual (LQSM).
  • Prepare for internal, customer, and regulatory assessments according to the quality system procedure.
  • Coordinate initiation of CARs and PARs, prepare assessment reports and customer complaint reports, and assist Laboratory Manager maintain records.
  • Control laboratory equipment and supply inventory; coordinate replacement/repair and calibrations.
  • Address technical issues from routine analysis and confer with Laboratory Manager on non-routine matters.
  • Provide training to laboratory personnel; act as liaison between Laboratory Manager and staff.

Job description

Responsible for preparing documentation related to laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and ISO certification activities. They will also be responsible for implementing quality control procedures, as well as preparing and safeguarding related records.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serving as a focal point for QA/QC and will be responsible for the oversight and review of quality control data on a routine basis.
  • Compiling daily Statistical Quality Control (SQC) data from all test methods that require an SQC, to ensure the laboratory is operating efficiently.
  • Coordinate all internal and external Proficiency Testing activities for the laboratory.
  • Prepare and maintain SQC charts and Proficiency Testing summaries.
  • Assist with continual improvement and implementation of the Quality System Manual (QSM) and Laboratory Quality System Manual (LQSM).
  • Prepare for internal, customer, and regulatory assessments according to the quality system procedure.
  • Coordinate the initiation of laboratory related Corrective Action Reports (CAR) and Preventative Action Reports (PAR), prepare assessment reports, laboratory related customer complaint reports, and assist Laboratory Manager maintain all records for review.
  • Controlling the laboratory equipment and supply inventory. Coordinate the replacement / repair of faulty equipment and supplies. Must also perform instrument calibrations and maintain verifications as per schedule.
  • Address all technical issues that arise from routine analysis and confer with Laboratory Manager/Supervisor on issues of a less routine nature.
  • Provide training to laboratory personnel.
  • Act as a liaison between Laboratory Manager and laboratory personnel.

Working Conditions

Some travel may be required. Work is performed both in an office and a laboratory environment. The employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. AmSpec Services provides product information, training, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment in an effort to protect employees from exposure to potentially harmful levels of those materials. Employees are required to read product information, use available engineering controls, follow guidelines presented during training, and be able to wear and use appropriate protective equipment, including respiratory protective equipment, as may be required by the work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
