Amspec LLC. in Washington state seeks a Quality and Training Manager to lead QA/QC and training, ensuring ISO and client standard compliance.
You will drive audit readiness, maintain QC data, and develop a competency program, fostering safety, accountability, and technical excellence.
This role partners with operations to align procedures and oversee calibration, equipment maintenance, and corrective actions.
The Quality and Training Manager serves as the laboratory’s primary resource for quality assurance oversight and technical training. This position ensures compliance with company, customer, and ISO standards while developing laboratory personnel through structured training, competency evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role supports operational excellence by maintaining audit readiness, overseeing QA/QC systems, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and technical proficiency.
Serve as the laboratory’s focal point for all QA/QC activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, operational efficiency, and continuous adherence to company and ISO standards.
Oversee review and maintenance of quality control data, including Statistical Quality Control (SQC), Proficiency Testing (PT), customer QC samples, and all related documentation.
Maintain audit readiness by supporting internal, customer, and regulatory assessments and managing quality records, corrective and preventative actions (CARs/PARs), non-conformances, and customer complaint investigations.
Support ongoing implementation and improvement of the Quality System Manual (QSM), Laboratory Quality Manual (LQM), and associated quality procedures.
Develop and manage a structured training and competency program for laboratory personnel, including hands‑on technical instruction, performance coaching, and skills development.
Serve as liaison between laboratory staff, management, and operations to ensure procedural alignment, safety compliance, and consistent quality standards.
Provide technical oversight of laboratory operations, including troubleshooting analytical issues and ensuring proper equipment calibration, verification, maintenance, and supply control.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of management experience in the Petroleum Industry or an Associate’s Degree and/or 5+ years of experience in the Petroleum Industry.
Strong managerial experience and interpersonal skills.
Technical and theoretical knowledge of laboratory operations.
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, outside consultants, executive management, and colleagues.
Thorough understanding of safety regulations, quality systems, and training requirements.
Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Work is primarily performed in a laboratory environment. The employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The company provides product information, training, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment to protect employees from exposure to potentially harmful materials. Employees are required to read product information, use available engineering controls, follow training guidelines, and wear appropriate protective equipment, including respiratory protective equipment, as required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Pass an annual Pulmonary Fitness and Respirator Fit Test, Ability to stand for extended periods, Ability to work in the
presence of odors, typical of petroleum or petrochemicals, without allergic reactions or nausea when such odors are within
OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
