Job description

PlayStation isn’t just the Best Place to Play — it’s also the Best Place to Work. Today, we’re recognized as a global leader in entertainment producing The PlayStation family of products and services including PlayStation5, PlayStation4, PlayStationVR, PlayStationPlus, acclaimed PlayStation software titles from PlayStation Studios, and more.

PlayStation also strives to create an inclusive environment that empowers employees and embraces diversity. We welcome and encourage everyone who has a passion and curiosity for innovation, technology, and play to explore our open positions and join our growing global team.

The PlayStation brand falls under Sony Interactive Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation.

Are you on a mission to create games that bond players together into deeply invested communities? Would you like to work on something comedic with lighthearted and whimsical characters? Do you spend your time deconstructing the latest PvP games to understand how they work? Do you think deeply about the most valuable areas to focus your time and effort? Would you consider yourself allergic to inefficiency?

We are seeking a technical, detail-oriented, and team-oriented QA Lead to contribute to a new multiplayer action game. You will work closely with Design, Production, Engineering, and Art team counterparts to deeply understand the suite of multiplayer game systems. You'll then use that knowledge to design QA strategies and plans to ensure the quality of the holistic game experience. You will work with the QA director to establish good QA processes and evangelize them throughout the team. Most importantly, you will work with a fun, dedicated, and passionate team devoted to turning a creative dream into a new franchise at teamLFG.

We are looking for candidates who value joining a mission-focused team with a diverse set of backgrounds, experiences, interests, and viewpoints.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain, and execute a cross-disciplinary QA strategy for large portions of a competitive multiplayer game from pre-production to live support
  • Spot problems in our processes and toolchains to identify and solve quality issues as early as possible
  • Train and supervise a team of external QA staff as part of your QA plans
  • Work with the QA Director to build and run a team of both internal QA and external Test staff
  • Work with the QA Director to help define and maintain team-wide quality assurance standards and practices attuned to the needs of the business
  • Partner with engineering to identify and build tooling and automation strategies that make the product more stable
  • Effectively write clear, concise, and accurate documentation and email communication, with the ability to summarize complex topics and achieve alignment across multiple teams

Required Skills:

  • Ability to quickly understand how the systems in the game are built and use that knowledge to design efficient test coverage
  • Develop an understanding of the product from both a player value and technical systems point of view
  • Ability to define a QA strategy that incorporates business, project, and systems needs
  • Able to negotiate, ratify, and drive plans in alignment with cross-disciplinary leads
  • Understanding of risks, constraints, business needs, and player value and ability to adjust plans accordingly
  • Experience directing external Test or QA staff
  • Experience playing competitive PvP action games; battle royales, fighting games, MOBAs, team-based shooters
  • Experience managing full-time QA staff
  • Embrace a "we" culture in addition to being an outstanding collaborator and communicator

Nice to Have:

  • Experience shipping a live-service tournament-quality PvP action game requiring high sustained game stability and quality
  • Experience developing and shipping a title using Unreal Engine
  • Experience with a variety of platforms (PC, Console)
  • Degree in Computer Science, Game Design, or related fields
