Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, OH is seeking a QA Inspector to perform hands-on inspections of complex fabricated parts and support quality engineering initiatives in a defense manufacturing setting.

You will interpret drawings, collaborate with engineering, and mentor junior staff while maintaining records and contributing to continuous improvement in safety, quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
• Minimum of 5 years of quality inspection experience on complex fabricated parts.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, inspection procedures and work instructions.
• Knowledge of measurement methodologies and tools to setup parts and perform inspections.
• Experience with an ERP system to transact materials and research part status.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on quality inspections of complex fabricated parts.
• Inspect welded parts to defined quality standards and conduct in-process and final inspections.
• Develop inspection instructions with input from engineering.
• Mentor QA staff in inspection techniques and procedures.
• Report quality trends to engineering and recommend corrective actions.
• Support calibration, audits and safety programs as needed.
