Job summary

Interface Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to perform dimensional and visual inspections of precision machined products and associated certifications.

You will be responsible for first article, in-process, and final inspections to ensure conformance to drawings and specifications, while maintaining meticulous records and supporting continuous improvement. Role requires GD&T expertise, strong math skills, and proficiency with measurement tools and MS Excel/Word.

Qualifications

  • Experience in dimensional and visual inspection to documented requirements.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and inspection methods is required.
  • Experience reading manufacturing drawings and instructions.
  • Ability to mentor others and work in a team.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word for reporting.
  • Experience with ISO Quality Management System is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection to requirements.
  • Verify documentation such as mill certs and routing sheets.
  • Write non-conforming material reports for defects.
  • Use inspection tools and basic QC methods to measure parts.
  • Document inspection results and maintain records.
  • Recommend updates to drawings, docs, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with production and shipping to meet deadlines.
  • Perform First Article, In-process, and Final inspections.
  • Monitor product deficiencies and suggest corrective actions.
  • Calibrate measuring equipment and schedule external calibration as needed.

Schedule

Monday - Thursday (4x10s) 1:00PM - 11:30PM

Summary

Perform inspection of precision machined products and the associated material certifications per applicable drawings and specifications, assuring that products meet or exceed requirements. Responsible for first article and routine inspections of product before release to stock and in-process inspection as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Dimensional and visual inspection of product for conformance to documented requirements.
  • Verification that documentation such as mill certs, routing sheets, are complete and accurate.
  • Writes non-conforming material reports for defective products.
  • Uses basic quality control tools such as sampling plans, inspection techniques, and measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, thread gages, gage blocks, dial indicators, height gages, vision inspection systems, and manual CMM.
  • Documents inspection results on paper or in electronic media and maintains meticulous detailed records pertinent to inspection results.
  • Recommend updates to drawings, documents, procedures, and methods.
  • Adhere to commitment dates and collaborates with other departments such as production and shipping in resolving quality issues and meeting deadlines.
  • Perform First Article dimensional layouts, In-process, and Final inspection of critical production operations.
  • Monitor and track product deficiencies, recommend corrective actions to reduce deficiencies.
  • Perform and document calibration of measuring equipment utilized in production activities including scheduling of outside services for calibration of those items requiring external calibration services.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Experience/Requirements: Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing quality control or production inspection.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
  • High level attention to detail.
  • High level knowledge of GD&T and inspection methods.
  • Intermediate math skills including decimals, fractions, trigonometry, and percentage calculations and measurement unit conversions between imperial and metric.
  • Interpret manufacturing drawings and instructions.
  • Mentor other quality inspection personnel.
  • Collaborative team player and problem solver.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent documentation skills recording keeping.
  • Experience with MS Excel and Word.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES DESIRED
  • Experience working in ISO Quality Management System
  • Quality auditing
  • Experience working with an ERP system
  • Experience with inspection of precision machined products
  • Knowledge of calibration tracing software such as GageTrak.
  • Capability to calibrate internal measuring and test equipment used in a machine shop.
