Job summary

Cognizant in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a QA Engineer - API, Database & Batch Testing to validate backend applications, data flows, and batch processes across enterprise systems. You will design and execute tests for REST and SOAP APIs, verify data integrity, and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

The role emphasizes hands-on API testing, SQL validation, batch/ETL testing, and proactive defect management in a hybrid work model with 3 days

Qualifications

Strong hands-on testing of REST and SOAP APIs using Postman, Swagger, SoapUI, or Rest Assured.
Advanced SQL skills with backend data validation in SQL Server or Oracle.
Experience with batch/ETL testing, data reconciliation.
Experience testing chatbot functionalities and backend responses.
Understanding of Agile methodologies and defect/work management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps).

Responsibilities

Design and execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end test cases for REST and SOAP APIs, including validation of payloads, status codes, and authentication.
Validate backend data accuracy and integrity with advanced SQL queries across applications and databases.
Test stored procedures, functions, views, and data transformations supporting enterprise apps.
Perform batch and ETL testing to validate scheduled jobs, data processing and downstream results.
Document defects, maintain evidence, and collaborate with Agile teams to resolve quality issues.
