Job summary

Cloud Analytics Technologies, LLC is seeking a QA Automation Engineer in Chicago to develop robust UI automation across Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit. You will craft reliable Playwright-based tests, build reusable fixtures, and manage authentication state to streamline logins.

You will also implement API test automation, network interception, and mocking to validate service layers and edge-case states. Strong CI/CD and SQL skills are required in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 3–6 years of hands-on test automation; 2+ years with Playwright.
• Experience architecting automation frameworks from scratch.
• Solid Playwright concepts: locators, auto-waiting, fixtures, parallelism.
• Proficiency in API testing: REST, JSON; Postman or REST Assured.
• CI/CD integration with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong Git skills, PRs, merges.
• SQL knowledge for test data setup and backend validation.
• QA fundamentals, Agile/Scrum, risk-based testing.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Job Description:

• Develop end-to-end UI automation suites covering critical business workflows, regression scenarios, and smoke tests across Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit.
• Write resilient locators using Playwright's role-based and test-id strategies, leveraging auto-waiting and web-first assertions to eliminate hard waits and reduce flakiness.
• Build reusable fixtures, custom commands, and test utilities; manage authentication state via storageState to avoid redundant login flows.
• Implement API test automation using Playwright's request fixture for service-layer validation and test data setup/teardown.
• Implement network interception and mocking (page.route) to isolate the UI from unstable downstream dependencies and to test error and edge-case states.

Required Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3–6 years of hands-on test automation experience, including 2+ years with Playwright building and maintaining production automation frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience architecting automation frameworks from scratch — not just writing scripts in an existing one.
• Solid understanding of Playwright core concepts: locators, auto-waiting, fixtures, projects, parallelism, retries, tracing, and configuration.
• Proficiency with API testing — REST, JSON payloads, status code and schema validation (Playwright request, Postman, or REST Assured).
• Hands-on CI/CD integration experience with at least one of GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
• Strong Git skills — branching, pull requests, merge conflict resolution, code review participation.
• Working SQL knowledge for test data setup and backend validation.
• Solid grasp of QA fundamentals: test design techniques, boundary and equivalence analysis, risk-based testing, defect lifecycle.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with sprint-based delivery.
• Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills; ability to investigate failures across UI, API, and data layers.
• Clear written and verbal communication — able to explain quality risk to non-technical stakeholders.
