Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. is seeking a QA Automation Engineer for Alpharetta, GA, in a hybrid role (3 days on-site). This position focuses on building scalable automation using Playwright with Java, designing frameworks from scratch, and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality web applications. The ideal candidate has strong Java skills, extensive Playwright automation experience, and a solid understanding of testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java programming.
• Extensive experience in test automation using Playwright with Java.
• Experience designing and developing automation frameworks from scratch.
• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and QA principles.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Strong knowledge of Git and version control.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Develop reusable automation components to improve efficiency and coverage.

• Perform API testing and validation with industry-standard tools.
• Review requirements to identify test scenarios and automation opportunities.
• Analyze results, identify defects, and drive resolution with dev teams.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce automation best practices and quality processes.
• Monitor automation execution and generate test reports for stakeholders.
• Mentor junior automation engineers and participate in continuous improvement.
• Stay updated with emerging automation technologies and testing trends.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright with Java.
• Create, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing of web applications.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, business analysts, and QA teams to understand requirements and define comprehensive test strategies.
• Develop reusable automation components and utilities to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and ensure seamless automated execution.
• Perform API testing and validation using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
• Review application requirements and technical specifications to identify test scenarios and automation opportunities.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to drive issue resolution.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce automation best practices, coding standards, and quality processes.

Qualifications

• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Strong knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud-based testing platforms and modern DevOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with performance testing and test reporting tools.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience integrating automation suites with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• ISTQB or other relevant testing certifications are a plus.
• Prior experience leading automation initiatives or mentoring QA teams.
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools and modern quality engineering practices.
