Job summary

Alcon is seeking an Associate I in the Quality Control Lab – Chemistry to perform chemical analyses and maintain compliant lab operations. You will support product release by ensuring materials meet quality and manufacturing standards.

The role requires a Chemistry degree or equivalent experience, proficiency in English, and the ability to work 1st shift onsite in Fort Worth, TX. Training and cross-functional collaboration are key aspects of this position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience in Quality Control or regulated labs.
  • Familiarity with GMP/GxP standards and documentation practices (GDP/GMP).
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate data handling.

Responsibilities

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on materials and products.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
  • Ensure SOPs, cGxP/GMP standards, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Accurately collect, analyze, and report test results; maintain compliant records.

The Associate I, Quality Control Lab – Chemistry (Science/Tech/Engineering Path) is responsible for performing chemical analyses, maintaining laboratory operations, and ensuring compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.

This role supports product release by ensuring all materials meet required quality and manufacturing standards.

Specifics Include:
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process, finished goods, and stability samples
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, cGxP/GMP standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Accurately collect, analyze, interpret, and report test results
  • Maintain thorough and compliant documentation (GDP/GMP practices)
  • Support laboratory investigations, including investigative testing and root cause analysis
  • Review and verify data generated by peers for accuracy and completeness
  • Update and maintain SOPs, analytical test procedures (ATPs), and lab documentation
  • Support environmental monitoring and utility sampling as required
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, safety practices, and ISO 14001 environmental compliance
  • Train team members in procedures, methods, and best practices as needed
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

Work Hours: 1st Shift: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM CST – 5:00 PM CST

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
  • Experience in Quality Control or regulated laboratory environments
  • Knowledge of systems such as LIMS, TrackWise, or Metasys
