Job summary

Garmin is seeking a full‑time Python Software Engineer 2 at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

This role focuses on designing, enhancing, and delivering internal technology solutions that emphasize security, automation, and seamless integration across platforms within the Cyber Security Organization. The candidate will design Python-based applications, collaborate with security analysts to automate workflows, and mentor junior engineers while adhering to secure coding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/MIS or related field with >=2 years relevant experience.
• Proficient in Python; experience with Java, C#, or similar is a plus.
• Experience with IaC/CaaS tools (Ansible, Terraform) and secure coding.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance python-based applications and automation.
• Maintain and extend existing software with limited guidance.
• Collaborate in a team to determine approaches and deliver solutions.
• Review complex tasks for technical soundness and accuracy.
• Develop automated security workflows with Garmin security analysts.
• Lead small/medium projects and provide reliable problem-solving solutions.
• Perform root cause analysis and outline corrective actions.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Document work thoroughly and adapt to changing priorities.
