Job summary

Garmin Ltd. in the U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area seeks a Python Software Engineer 2 to design, enhance and deliver internal tech solutions with focus on security, automation and cross‑platform integration within Cyber Security.

You will design, develop and maintain Python-based applications, collaborate with a team, mentor junior engineers and contribute to secure coding practices while helping define project scope and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience programming in Python and other languages (e.g., Java, C#).
• Experience with IaC/CaaC tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Adaptable to changing project priorities and environments.
• Proven ability to implement technology solutions securely.
• Ability to design, enhance and develop single and multi-system apps.
• Commitment to secure coding practices and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops python-based applications, tools, and automation scripts.
• Maintains and extends existing software with limited assistance.
• Collaborates within a team to determine approaches and solutions.
• Reviews tasks for soundness and accuracy.
• Works with security analysts to develop automated security workflows.
• Leads small/medium projects and provides reliable solutions.
• Performs root cause analysis and outlines corrective actions.
• Mentors less experienced engineers and interns.
• Documents work and adheres to standards and processes.
• Participates in project definition, feature analysis and tradeoffs.
