Job summary

Jobtailor in Washington, DC is seeking a skilled software engineer to build serverless, event-driven workflows on AWS using Lambda and Step Functions. Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain Public Trust.

Job description

  • Build serverless, event-driven application workflows on AWS using Lambda and Step Functions
  • Connect commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products into in-house system frameworks
  • Build internal and external API connections supporting modern system architectures
  • Create data and document pipelines that automate previously manual, paper-heavy processes
  • Take user stories from refinement through production
  • Build cloud-native modern systems and tested code owned through production
  • Develop automation, validations, checks, and workflows replacing spreadsheet-based manual processes
  • Deploy services routinely through pipelines
  • Use AI-assisted development tools such as Amazon Q Developer across the lifecycle
  • Identify and correct defects
  • Adapt to changing program needs, projects, priorities, tools, domains, roles, and clients
  • Communicate work clearly with stakeholders and listen to their needs
  • Work with attention to accuracy and auditability
Requirements
  • 4+ years of software development experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Working-level command of Python
  • Experience with modern languages and frameworks, and with version control
  • Familiarity with cloud development on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts
  • Ability to turn a defined specification into working, tested code and own it through to production
  • Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Sole United States citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
  • Preferred: Amazon Web Services exposure or certification
  • Preferred: Federal information technology experience
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling
