Job summary

Ionbond USA in Greensboro, NC seeks a Process Development Engineer for thin-film PVD coating. You will develop and optimize PVD processes, run DOEs, and mentor operators while partnering with Plant Management on new programs from R&D to production.

You’ll apply SPC, root-cause analysis, and lean tools to boost throughput and yield, ensuring ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D compliance. Your role includes updating PFMEA/Control Plans, drafting work instructions for audits, and training teammates on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science/Metallurgy, or Plasma Physics.
• 3+ years in vacuum coating with a focus on thin films; hands-on PVD coating and equipment experience.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D quality standards.
• Proven problem-solving using 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Whys; APQP experience including PFMEA and Control Plans.

Responsibilities

• Develop PVD processes, run design-of-experiments, and improve yields.
• Mentor operators on best practices and review coating runs with Plant Management.
• Lead 5S, 8D root-cause reviews, and scope equipment upgrades for throughput.
• Update PFMEA and Control Plans; support major scale-up and audits.
