Job summary

KDF Technologies, LLC is seeking a motivated R&D Engineer to strategically identify and develop critical thin film processes and new applications, strengthening its position as a PVD expert. You will lead R&D in thin film deposition, develop white papers, and present at conferences.

Responsibilities include designing experiments, developing new methodologies, solving process issues, and collaborating with customers and internal teams to drive tool design improvements.

Qualifications

  • BS in Material Science or Engineering; PhD preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in related field
  • Knowledge of Vacuum Technology and PVD techniques (sputtering)
  • Familiarity with in-house thin film metrology tools
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Work safely around high voltage equipment
  • Proficient with MS Office

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct complex experiments to develop innovative processes
  • Develop white papers on key technologies and processes
  • Present results at conferences (SVC, MRS, AVS)
  • Improve deposition recipe efficiency and target material usage
  • Resolve product support and customer process problems as needed
  • Interact with customers and KDF personnel to solve PVD issues
  • Support customers during Sources Inspection and Factory Acceptance tests
  • Use characterization equipment to understand film uniformity and performance
  • Maintain test results and notes digitally
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
