PV Solar Engineer – Remote/Travel Based Position
Intertek’s Clean Energy Associates (CEA) delivers quality assurance, supply‑chain traceability and technical support to leading solar project developers, owners and financiers. CEA also supports equipment manufacturers in overcoming core manufacturing challenges. We are looking for a PV Solar Engineer to conduct site inspections, testing, audits and quality‑control services for PV solar and battery‑energy‑storage‑system (BESS) projects, including visual inspections, commissioning support, EL/IV curve testing, inline production monitoring, pre‑shipment inspections, and container loading monitoring. The role requires over 80% travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to client sites to perform audits, inspections and commissioning on solar PV and storage systems, including FAT and SAT testing for transformers and BESS systems.
- Coordinate with field‑service technicians, engineers, subcontractors and other O&M personnel.
- Project‑manage audits and commissioning activities to meet schedule and budget.
- Identify faulty systems and recommend corrective actions.
- Create technical commissioning and inspection reports and communicate findings to clients professionally.
- Lead health, safety and environmental (HSE) compliance on site and ensure adherence to the HSE Plan.
- Conduct hazard/risk analyses before starting work.
- Support Marketing and Sales teams as required.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in the solar PV and BESS industry.
- Verified experience in O&M and field commissioning.
- OSHA 10‑hour certification required.
- Experience with project‑management software.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong reporting and client‑communication skills.
- Experience with I‑V curve tracing, Megger testing, infrared scanning, visual inspection, multimeter use and safety practices during inspections and commissioning.
- Fall‑protection training.
- Training in arc‑flash, lock‑out/tag‑out and other protective procedures is desirable.
- Ability to work outdoors in harsh conditions.
- Requirement to wear personal protective equipment.
- Ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Valid U.S. passport.
- Remote position; must legally work in the United States.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications
- Electrician background with experience in C&I and utility‑scale PV systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Medium‑ and high‑voltage testing experience.
- NABCEP PVIP certification.
Salary & Benefits
Salary range: $80,000 – $110,000. Compensation packages vary based on skills, experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, tuition reimbursement and more.
